Wanda: “The windows are pretty. That’s a different kind of stained glass, it’s painted.”
Grandma: “I never knew this was the oldest black church in Florida. Established in 1851. That’s before emancipation!”
Tiffany: “Emancipation, isn’t that when President Lincoln freed all the slaves?”
Grandma: “I’m impressed, Tiffany, yes, it is. The Reverend James Page must have been dedicated and trusted, to start a church during slavery. Look, children, here’s another great man. I remember Reverend C.K. Steele, he worked hard during the civil rights movement.”
